Il piano di Trump taglierebbe il finanziamento del Dipartimento di Stato di quasi la metà, dice Memo. Terminare tutti i finanziamenti della NATO e delle Nazioni Unite.

The US is just abandoning all of its soft powers by discontinuing their foreign aid funds…

This could be an opportunity for Europe to step in and fill the vacuum by funding everything that the US stopped.

    2. China and the EU will fill the diplomatic void.

The US will be left behind.

    3. HarrisonYeller on

Just worth noting that in regards to NATO it is the cost of HQ staff and expenses related to the organization itself, not US military in Europe for now at least. Still petty as heck and typical Trump.

    4. toolkitxx on

*’Funding for the United Nations, NATO and 20 other organizations would be ended’*

This would mean they leave NATO if they dont provide funding. This would be the first time we have some official proof. No payments, no membership.

Great… one less country to have a permanent seat with veto rights

Let’s go ! If they want to drop their investments and give up their returns, I’m all on buying some more Nato Stocks. Which one of you beautiful European countries wants to sell us an airforce?

      Sincerely
      🇨🇦

I’m cool with us leading the un, let Brussels, Beijing, Tokyo, New Delhi, or I dunno, Sydney fight for who gets the new headquarters.

That’s some diplomacy in action right there

    8. Imtired1245 on

Empowering Russia and removing obstacles for Russia is Trump’s mission.

    9. biteme109 on

Putin is going to be so happy. Trump was the best thing he ever bought!

    10. Does anyone still wonder if krasnov is a russian agent? Like seriously.

    11. TwoBricksShort on

Trump has stated repeatedly that the US is not leaving NATO. As for the UN I doubt he has the balls to stop funding the organization let alone leave the UN.

    12. Galaxy_AI on

It looks like Trump hates America a lot, and he is trying very hard to destroy America in every possible way. He has been successful. We should appreciate his smartness.

    13. Cheeky__Bananas on

Wait, people have been telling me that no one funds NATO. Which one is it? When Trump would say America has been paying too much for NATO while Europe was slacking, people would always say no one pays for NATO.

    14. Ex_Cow_farmer on

      >There would be particularly steep cuts to support for international organizations, with just under 90 percent of this funding eliminated in the proposal

They voted for this and he delivered. I see it has a net positive.

      > laying off tens of thousands of the department’s 80,000 employees

They slash half the budget and only cut within 10/20% of the staff? Seems like it just make them even less efficient per dollars invested.

    15. Unfair_Run_170 on

      Lol, they’ll end nato……

…….and then they’ll still say, “my tax dollars pay for your defense!”

    16. jim_nihilist on

The US sides with Russia and North Korea then?

      What is this bullshit?

    17. Pandore0 on

Ending the funding of the UN makes sense. What use does he have of diplomacy? He’s a fucking bully.

    18. mowinski on

Does that mean the States will also leave the UN? I mean besides vetoing shit, they haven’t really done anything substantial in the last two decades.

    19. GingerSuperPower on

Move the UN to The Hague, the former ICTY and UN courts have tons of space right now.

    20. Piltonbadger on

Imagine putting nothing into NATO and the UN and still expecting to be a dominant voice within them.

      Not gonna be happening.

    21. MoreCommoner on

Toronto would be a good spot to move the UN to. It’s a very multicultural city

    22. i-can-sleep-for-days on

Doesn’t Congress authorize the payment for NATO and the UN. Why does this asshole get to make those decisions?

    23. captain-prax on

Where did this isolationist come from? Trump is intentionally killing the US economy and destabilizing the world on purpose, out of spite, and with malice for everyone.

We voted in a 78 year old minimally intelligent white (maybe orange) nonreader who never took a course in foreign relations. He appointed a fairly intelligent man to run the state department. But loyalty, fealty, and following idiotic orders carry the day rather than strengthening relationships with allies. Closing embassies, consulates, and military bases to show the world the US means business is political suicide.

    27. nilsinleneed on

honestly we’re better off building a strong European defense alliance and strong trade relations with Asia

      America just can’t be trusted

    28. Haunting_Meal296 on

Send the UN to Kyiv. Any other outcome is useless for an already useless institution

    29. DramaticSimple4315 on

As usual, nothing about cost effectivness and federal budget streamlining in here. In 2024 the state department + us aid represented 60 bn$. A drop in the ocean.

Halving the budget would lead to close dozens of embassies and consulates. American representations to the UN, Nato, the Eu and other IOs would probably be scrapped. Thousands of career professionals with the best interest of the USA at mind would be let go.

And this is the plan, as always with this kleptocrat and wanna be despot. The point is to eviserate any check on his power and impulses. So that american foreign policy is nothing more than a sell to thr highest bidder – be it in money or in narcissic exhilaration for this sociopath.

This is an ideological move. Destroy any competence. Erase any belief into a bipartisan consensus about what America should aspire to stand for.

    30. Objective_Thanks_851 on

I favor all these and other cut backs that President Trump and Elon Musk are doing. But I would like a lot more focus on the Senior Citizens Tax Illumination Bill that has been put on the table in 2025. This is clearly stealing from everybody in Social Security lower income people. That’s a really big deal. It’s been happening since 1984 , The Regan administration. Rep. Thomas Massie is heading the bill up now. I haven’t heard or seen anything going on with it in 3 months.

    31. Objective_Thanks_851 on

The No Tax on Social Security should have been passed 50 years ago. It should have never happened to begin with. Everybody affected by this now, should get refunded 5 years back for the money been stolen from them..It’s a big deal to get double taxed on money you have already paid in your whole life in Social Security account. And another thing. I still work. I’m full retirement age. I still have social security taken out of my wages..WHY. Im already been calculated in the social security system. So WHERE is that money going now????.

Wow. Guess the U.S is really no long the leader of the free world. Looks like they just want to be a feeloader, and do enough to get buy. I would say this is definitely the beginning of the end for USA

So no one will be beholden to USA. And USA will take a backseat on the world stage.
