Ciao, quindi sono in procinto di far convertire la mia licenza dal Pakistan in una patente di guida tedesca. Ho portato tutti i documenti al Fuhrerscheinstelle nella mia città e ha preso la domanda, compilato i dettagli della mia licenza esistente ecc. E mi ha dato questa lettera insieme a tutti i documenti tra cui la mia patente di guida originale dal mio paese d’origine. Ho confermato da lui che avrei dovuto riprendere tutto questo con me e ha detto di sì. Ho sentito da molte persone che mantengono con sé la licenza originale in quanto illegale mantenere due licenze. E con il mio tedesco non così bravo non riuscivo a capire tutto quello che stava dicendo. È cambiato adesso?

When you pass your driving test and are issued your new German licence, then you will have to give in your Pakistani licence. At the moment if they took your current licence then you’d have to be driving around without one at all.
That letter only tells you that your data will be transferred to the place you’ll have to do your driving test. You are supposed to check it and notify them if anything is wrong or if anything changes.
You probably will have to turn in your current license at the moment they give you your new german one.
Yes they keep your original driver’s license to exchange to german. But don’t worry, not like they tell pakistani authorities you got a german one. Keep a copy of the old one, and when you’re back in Pakistan see if you can renew.
