Love this guy’s content. He makes very interesting videos on a range of environmental related things. The quality is good enough that you could just put the video straight to TV (probably needs fact checking).

This video in particular brought lots of good comments on YouTube, the general gist of why the forestry paths are restricted to NO BICYLE USE is litigation and effort. Fear of litigation and effort to implement something positive.

Generally I always get the feeling that in Ireland, if something can’t be commercialised it will generally be a huge pain to get setup/approved.

Specifically in relation to coilte, I really wish there was some accountability in HOW they managed the felling. Huge swathes of mountainside done in days, leaving behind acres of byproduct that is just left to sit there for months/years. Why can’t they fell but leave the area in a usable state? Why are they not required to clear the area of all the scrub, branches etc once they’re done?

I watched up to the point that he said coillte changed their rules, but surely this is another case of insurance companies raising premiums until nobody can do anything anymore?

Also, I tried a primrose yesterday. Not very nice. Leaves an “after-texture” in the mouth, which I didn’t even know was a thing!

Soon enough we wont have any forests left coz the government couldnt give a rats ass about forestry.

      Irish solution:

      No bikes.

      No enforcement.

      What could go wrong.

Love this guy. Discovered him through his video on Lough Neagh. Great watch if you haven’t seen that one.
