“Dear citizens, I kindly ask you: please see this and share it.
Taking advantage of my absence, they’ve started construction of 24,000 housing units around Sazlıdere Dam, one of the most important water sources on the European side of Istanbul, all for the sake of the Kanal İstanbul project – a project of plunder and profiteering.
This time, they rushed to involve TOKİ (Housing Development Administration). Bulldozers and construction equipment have been pushed right into the protected area, all the way down to the water.
They not only ignored official warnings from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) and İSKİ (Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration), but also reduced the drinking water usage rating of Sazlıdere Dam from 100% to 0% by a Presidential decree – without shame, and without even notifying İSKİ.
Let it be clear to everyone: in our precious city of Istanbul, not even a single drop of water can be sacrificed.
We will never give up this fight against this unjust, unlawful, and opportunistic approach.
If you had even an ounce of sincerity about climate change and environmental protection, you wouldn’t attack Istanbul’s water sources like this.
To the harm you’ve already caused to the law, the economy, and democracy, you now add damage to the environment and Istanbul’s water resources.
While the whole world is struggling with the climate crisis, seeking new solutions, you are creating yet another crisis.
Stop this plunder and profiteering project immediately.
The people are going to remove you anyway – at least, before you go, stop causing more harm to the earth, the water, and the air.”
The goverment is a traitor. The Turkish people will judge you and put you in jail. You have no chance of escaping this anymore.
This does not sound like a Democracy.
The reason for this project is because Turkey is getting scammed every single day by all other countries because they are not allowed to charge them trafficking the current canal. With the new canal they can charge them make billions of Dollars and also close the current one which is better for citizens, tourists and better for the enviroment. Yall are absolutely clueless.
