Context: The government tried to stop the protests and the march named “CHP is walking for a Free Palestine” today. CHP is the opposition party in Turkey and they were the biggest party out of the 2024 local elections. It’s also Imamoglu’s party, who’s the Istanbul Mayor and the biggest rival of Erdogan. Imamoglu’s unlawful arrest was the main reason country-wide protests started 1 month ago.

The government sent police to Taksim (where the march was going to start), they stopped metros and they blocked the streets so that the people wouldn’t reach the meeting area.

It’s only okay when they do it, they don’t even want the opposition to address this sensitive topic, they don’t want any pro-Palestine people to side with CHP, because it’s one of the main things they’ve been using to manipulate people.

Holy hell, these protests are creating such incredible heroes. We’re breaking the fearmongering autocrat by showing that we won’t bow to him. Not long ago, we had no real way to fight against Erdoğan. Now after the people realized all power belongs to us, we’re shaking his throne to the core to take democracy back.

      Great job really.

Does it mean that police is not really eager to … “police”?
