I suspect we’re going to see more and more direct flights to Canadian and Central/South American destinations which no longer route through the US at all.

I’m all for avoiding the USA but I have to wonder about someone who thinks the USA is dangerous and skips it in favour of Mexico. I’d take my chances with TSA and ICE over cartels and corrupt police.

I would say that there is *more* demand for a direct flight to Saõ Paulo…

It’d be a long oul flight in one go, I always aim to fly Dublin to Toronto, then down to Cancun. 7 hours then a few hours to stretch out / get changed into something more tropical suitable then 4 hours to Cancun. Try to avoid stop overs in the states even before all this latest shite, dealing with the US airports is always hyper stressful. Canada you just breeze through. Doing my 6th trip shortly this way and unfortunately have a us transfer on the return leg, couldn’t avoid it. Will probably be grand but stressful.

Will never forget going to Chile over a decade ago and having to fly from from Dublin to NY, wait 12 hours, NY to Florida, get immediately shuffled onto another flight that somehow ended up in Ohio, wait 8 hours, get a flight from Ohio to Lima, wait another 4-6 hours, then Lima to Santiago.
Same shit on the way back. Multiple 6-12 hour waits in various airports. I was young at the time and the whole novelty of the experience of it all was fun but I’d never do that again
