Ekrem Imamoglu: Erdogan’s End è apparso. Il nuovo governo della Turchia lavorerà con l’UE e gli alleati, considerando interessi reciproci, stato di diritto e democrazia basati sui diritti umani. Non ho il minimo dubbio che la Turchia si unirà all’UE sotto la nostra regola

Ekrem İmamoğlu made a post on social media addressing the German government.

      In his statement, İmamoğlu said:

      >“According to what I’ve learned from the press, the German government has vetoed the sale of Eurofighter jets — which our air force urgently needs and has been waiting for a long time — due to our imprisonment in Silivri.

      >I would like to address the new government preparing to take office in Germany: Turkey is not just Erdoğan. Turkey is greater than Erdoğan. Governments come and go.

      >I respectfully request that you reverse this decision.

      >Turkey’s national interests are more valuable than both Erdoğan and İmamoğlu. The end of Erdoğan’s rule is near. The new government of Turkey will work with the European Union, including Germany and all our allies, based on mutual interests, the rule of law, and the principles of human rights and democracy.

      >Under our leadership, there will be no doubt that Turkey will become a full member of the EU.”

      What happened?

One of Germany’s leading economic newspapers, Handelsblatt, reported that the German government vetoed the sale of Eurofighter Typhoon jets to Turkey due to the imprisonment of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. The report was based on several sources who participated in confidential internal meetings.

According to the article, the coalition of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) and the Greens made this decision jointly. The judicial process against İmamoğlu was reportedly viewed by the German government as “an attack on Turkish democracy.” Therefore, they found it appropriate to halt arms sales to Turkey.

Handelsblatt also claimed that the issue of exporting Eurofighters to Turkey would be a challenge for the new coalition set to take office in May.

This guy would be great for us in the future. If we ever have any chance of joining the EU, we’ll need serious restructuring in our country as soon as we get rid of our dictator, Erdoğan. Support for socialist democracy in our country is stronger and more popular than ever.

That’s why Erdoğan is now trying to align with the USA and is sending İmamoğlu to jail.
Even Trump said he admires Erdoğan. If Trump admires someone, that person is most probably a dipshit.

Until Erdogan is GONE for GOOD, there should be NO anything for Turkey. Erdogan and Trump and indeed Putin are peas in a pod. This axis of Evil needs dealt with.

In reality, there’s not much difference between him and Erdogan. They are both active politicians in the same system..

Lets say Turkey resolves every single dispute it has with any european country that would stand in the way of joining the EU (which would require lots of time and unpopular compromises), do turkish people even want to join the EU?

I thought the headline was about Turkey’s new government and got excited.

Isn’t this guy in prison. It’s only a matter of time before Erdogan’s goons will beat him to death. Turkey is done for.

Apart from all the shenanigans, every politician with high vote potential in Turkiye pledges that the country will join the EU under their rule. I doubt it but let’s hope for the best.

It’s weird how hopeful Turkish people are. We are talking about a nation that has been plagued by various issues since any of the commenters were born. Ataturk did create huge progress, but even in the 70’s people were killed on the street and the secular military controlled the nation. Erdogan arrived in a lucky period of economic progress, but made the democracy much worse. Whatever period you point to it’s not exactly EU ready.

I don’t see how anyone watching on can claim that Turkey is just an inch away from being a EU member state as there is just nothing that points to it. Even if you remove Erdogan the population will not all together seek democracy like for example Poland did.

Why would any MS want FoM with an Islamic country? It’s a total non-starter.
