    1. Dont give Trump anything, cause he will just change his mind. Can never be trusted

The EU should give it a try and experience the humiliation Canada once faced: aligning with the US on tariffs against China, only to be threatened by Trump with annexation.

If we are to choose between a rational authoritarian regime and a batshit crazy authoritarian regime, let’s go with the rational one

    4. FantasyFrikadel on

Since the exact demand isn’t mentioned we can have fun speculating.

Oh to choose between a country that produces almost everything and a country that insults you at every opportunity and only produces high fructose corn syrup.

Yeah, giving in to demands from an unreliable asshole is never a good idea.

I’m pretty sure Europe’s historical trade deficit with China was worse back in the old days and unlike the USA, Europe had to find silver instead of just printing some extra cash to buy stuff from them. Nevertheless Europe still survived so it isn’t surprising they won’t decouple

    7. ronadian on

Signing “deals” with the USA proved to be a mistake. See Ukraine 1997.

    8. The EU should decouple as much as needed as it already has been doing (doesn’t mean to cut all economic ties, just most areas or the more sensitive ones), without tying it to whatever Donny Il Mafioso says. We do it solely based on our interests, as every power around the world is doing, and to not strengthen an anti-democratic bloc that has recently been joined by the USA.

So the muricans know they’re going to have to go to war with China over Taiwan so what do they do? they tariff the shit out of them and everyone else and then think the EU will decouple from China?

Am I getting this right? do they think the EU will defend Taiwan because I don’t think so at this stage. So they’re fucking themselves in whatever war in the future they have with China. Make it make sense you dummy bastards.

Good. Stand up to that fascist bully and don’t give him an inch

The Trump admin is so brilliant. Threaten allies with invasion (Canada, Denmark) then slap tariffs on them, then try to bully them into joining your misguided and ill thought out attempt to win a trade war against China.

Shocked that Europeans didn’t agree to join with a punitive and erratic US

Just because a deranged orange lunatic wants to ruin their economy by raising prices, it doesn’t mean the rest of the world wants to do the same.

    13. Notbadconsidering on

Straight up. I wouldn’t decouple from a rabid moose to please Trump. Whatever you are could to, Trump is 1,000x worse.

    14. BothRequirement2826 on

Of course they won’t. There’d be no benefit to that.

    15. We have almost 4 years left of this. It’s gonna be a slow downward spiral of this kind of insanity, isn’t it? Maybe we should just cut all communication with current us administration and wait it out, this is so tiring. It’s like trying to argue with a manic schizophrenic

    16. VibrantGypsyDildo on

      That’s logical.

China is a more predictable trade partner.

(When you build a plant or factory, you have expectations for almost a decade ahead. Trump can change the trade conditions over a night).

    17. Icy-Tour8480 on

Good. We should decouple from USA instead, MAGA will be for some time, and it want to hurt us. We should be independent.

    18. How about we tell trump to fuck off and China aswell? USA bad doesn’t mean China good

    19. First the US demands an end to anti discrimination measures from their trading “partners” and now they try to bully the EU into an anti China economy?!

The USA is drastically overplaying their hand.

    20. rmpumper on

lol, you agree to this condition and the orange idiot will demand something else the next day.

    21. Express-Magician-265 on

I really hope the entire world turns its back on Trump. Break off all ties, stop importing from America, stop exporting all goods to America. This country needs a great big wake-up call, so we can get rid of all the authoritarian fascists in our government.

    22. greymind on

It’s a dangerous situation when China is stable and predictable and the USA is erratic and untrustworthy
