Meh, he could have single handedly changed the public opinion of the Catholic Church by handing over every pedo priest to the relevant authority but he chose not to. Taking selfies at his coffin is the least of the disrespect he deserves.

I’m not Catholic and still can’t understand what kind of piece of shit takes a selfie with a dead person, particularly if it is the Pope. If there is a hell, a bunch of stupids just got a oneway ticket to it.

    3. On the BBC news they were showing each row that came up to the coffin pulling out their phones to take a picture. I didn’t see people taking selfies but just taking a picture isn’t much better.

That what you got when you think people are all decent. I don’t even understand why they didn’t forbid phone near it

    5. designbydesign on

At least they don’t put his corpse on trial 🤷🏻

I mean, it’s on the news and the images of the open casket were posted anyway. Who is expressing “fury”?

    7. wordswillneverhurtme on

Clout chasers would take a selfie before death, I swear.

    8. bucket_brigade on

People are pimping their dead relatives on social media for clout, why wouldn’t they do the same with the pope

Considering I’ve seen people taking selfies in the old gas chambers in Auschwitz, this doesn’t surprise me at all.

      People suck

    10. RugbyEdd on

Not my thing but as far as I’m aware it was a televised public funeral, so hardly surprising.

Taxidermy me in a good pose rhen have everyone take pictures with me at my wake.

Awful but expected. If people don’t have the decency not to take selfies in the Auschwitz camp I’d sure not expect them to have any restraint near a dead Pope.

    13. berejser on

So furious that you blurred out the people but not the Pope’s coffin?

They could have used yondr bags.
And should use this in a lot of other places like concentration camps.
More and more artists are using this at their concerts. It’s beautiful

Not nearly as disrespectful as the church telling people their loved ones are going to hell for not bending the knee to them. Fuck the church.

    16. At least they don’t ever have to worry if they’re going to hell.

    17. traumatransfixes on

The church needs to stop shaming people for existing. If you’re gonna put a dead ass monarch on display, what did you expect? Welcome! To the 21st century!

    18. Just-Ad4486 on

This is the same religion that chops people up and puts their individual body parts on display, right?

    19. Puzzleheaded_Dot4345 on

Don’t blur their faces! They want their 15 minutes of fame…well, let’s give them one hell of a ride, post their handle too

With younger people, I still hope that at some point they will at least be embarrassed themselves. Like I do with outfits from my school days.

With older people who do that, well…

    21. Squiliam-Tortaleni on

Not surprised. Clout chasers like this have done the exact same shit at the 9/11 memorial and Auschwitz, it shouldn’t be surprising to anyone that they always seek new lows

    22. JumpyNeat2664 on

      Ugh..disrespectful and macabre.
I was in Notre Dame in Paris, and there was a mass being said. A couple pressed against the ropes and did a selfie with the priest/alter in the background. I told them this was NOT Disneyland and that was not Mickey Mouse. Also..young Asian girls were literally climbing into the surrounding displays dedicated to various saints and doing selfies. I was totally appalled.

    23. Maleficent_Nobody377 on

Wait till they find out about what the pope turned a blind eye too the. They’ll really bad mad.

    24. Aren’t they streaming this funeral? You’ll have cameras and videos there the whole time. What’s the difference?
