oh shit – that means we need to double down our efforts to stockpile weapons, especially divert export orders back to NATO members as well.

This is very troubling.
And with Trump threatening to not honor article 5, Europe needs to prepare to fight alone and also immediently kick the US out of NATO if we don’t come to your aid.

Seeing as Trump loving Putin’s ass, he might try something to test the boundaries of the Atlantic Alliance, nothing big yet. The Russian sabotage and subterfuge on European soil will continue either way.

It really looks like the stable genius felon krasnov is giving putin the greenlight to invade more countries by his pulling support from Ukraine and shittalking Zelensky.
AntonioClaus on
Nice try Selenskyi, but Russias Army is not even strong enough to capture the whole Donbass. So it would be suicide for Putin to go in war with the NATO.

Doesn’t sound as asserting as
>Putin may attack a NATO country from Belarus as early as next year

Probably Lithuania and Latvia for his landgrab in the Baltics. Don’t think he’d have a crack at Poland.
It’s why he installed Krasnov to dismantle NATO.

It’s not impossible, Putin could really test the waters by doing something like a surprise attack, rushing into one of the baltic countries, just grabbing some square meters of land. Then he’ll observe NATO’s response. With Ukraine he has learned a lot in the last three years how the west reacts. Why not extend the observation.
If it’s getting too hot, he can simply order a retreat and it would be interesting to see what the consequences could be. The losers will unfortunately be the innocent civilians, as always, like the Ukrainian civilians currently eating the random missile attacks.
SnooSuggestions9830 on
Ok but how can he possibly know this?
It’s a possibility sure but it’s like saying it may rain in July.
Seems more like a scare tactic to garner more European support.

If Russia tried that it would end very badly for them, Poland could pretty much destroy them solo. They currently have pretty much no armored vehicles and an army made of prisoners and mercenaries. If they struggle to take a small village, they would get fucked so badly if they attacked a NATO country. When you have to get WW2 artillery from storage and need the world’s poorest country to help, you are no threat for a while.

I‘m from germany and tbh I am most worried about the security of northern harbours and highways/railways here. Because in terms of war, those are not even secure to the slightest part. And german people are psychologically not prepared for war. Putin could send a few ballistic rockets and take out the harbours, highways, railways and target a few civil buildings and houses. Imo germans would mentally break, be in shock and whole war logistic would be fucked. Germany in terms of the civil aspect is fragile, unprotected and still needs to be the backbone in terms of logistics.
Independent_Lock864 on
Attacking NATO or the EU is suicide for him. He can’t even take Ukraine, attacking the actual alliance he was afraid they might join would mean he’d be personally in danger.
LonelyAgent7522 on
Seems unlikely as things stand, because (while it’s far from certain) it’s more likely than not that most big countries in western Europe would send in their armies, and then Russians would get destroyed.
But if one or two of the big western Europe countries get far right government while someone like Trump or Vance is still president of the US, then I can see that happening. France, Germany, Poland and the UK all together are strong enough that they could push Russia out without insane casualties for any particular country. But would say Germany and Poland alone undertake such mission, with France, the UK and the US sitting it out? I’m much less sure. They could win, but would they really want to let tens of thousands of their people die fighting for someone else’s country?

Attack it with WHAT!?
He’s been engaged in fighting with Ukraine for how many years now?
Against a country that by all reckoning should have fallen in months?
And has lost HOW many troops and resources in the process?
What does anyone think he has left to fight with if he still hasn’t managed to take Ukraine by next year?
And even if he HAS, he’ll be trying to hold a country that will not stop fighting him just because its army was defeated, all while trying to invade a NATO country, armed with NATO weapons, with essentially the entire EU fighting against him if decides to try it no matter WHAT Trumps America impotently demands!?

Problem attacking Estonia is st Peters is just in range to send missiles to it and we have capability to do that also from Russia to Estonia there’s only 2 bigger roads. Latvia and Lithuania are way easier to grab. Also we re going to build a new Base to Town Bordering Russia. Belarus is safe way to invade for them kind of.

As a Lithuanian, it’s sad to see: I will have no future, so won’t my country. War is on my mind constantly and I have no idea what’s next. And no, A5 means nothing, US doesn’t care, our neighbors will try to protect themselves first.
Dark times are coming. I’ll try to savor good memories from my past and go out without regrets. It’s just sad to see everything we worked for, everything we reached for, being destroyed.
