      Hungary also had a short-lived [Hungarian Soviet Republic](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hungarian_Soviet_Republic). Although somewhat less crazy and longer-lived (about a third of a year), it also had some weird policies, such as when it declared that “Women will now be Nationalized to industrialize the manufacturing of new Humans.”

      It got quickly destroyed and secured Bavaria as a conservative bastion all the way into the present.

      After all it’s pretty hard to argue for socialism and communism when you actually see the results firsthand.

      Actually, nothing weird for the Soviet republics. Stalin, for example, robbed banks.

      I enjoy history like this. I have never heard of such German Soviet and I am interested in both the world wars. I will read now and for the next hour or so, about the mad Dr F. sth who was admitted to the clinic and his telegrams with the toilet key. Thank you, these are good posts!

      This still exists. Stalin in 1928 created a Jewish landlocked homeland north of Mongolia. Most Jews left after the collapse of the USSR. There weren’t many to begin with.

      fun fact: Lenin lived in Munich in 1900-1902 in Kaiserstrasse 46, not very far (350 meters) from Ainmillerstrasse 36 (one of Kandinsky’s future apartments) .

      So Bavaria was ruled by some communists, which were then ousted by some communists, who then were putsched by some communists.
