I’m on holiday in Greece, and I decided to put the TV on the first channel (Ant1) while I sit down for dinner. It’s been over five minutes, I’ve almost finished eating, and the adverts are still on. What are public TV advert breaks like in your country?

I stopped watching commercial tv somewhere around 2016. I pick and choose what to watch without ads.

I moved into my current rent what, 15 years ago? There was no TV, I couldn’t bring my own, and so I ended up not watching TV ever since. I didn’t miss it then, don’t miss it now (it’s only gotten about a thousand times worse, anyway).
I’ve been making up for it with Youtube, though π (with adblockers so still no ads)

It’s 2025. On-demand streaming exists. Leave TV and its ads in the 00s where they belongs.

Life is to short to watch all those ads.
And when they do the same over and over again… it hurts.
Just don’t watch is a good plan.

The fact that TV adverts still work (apparently, as they are still there and quite expensive) means that there are people out there sitting through them. I don’t get that. Who would do that? How can you get immersed in anything if you have 8 minutes of adverts every 10 minutes or so? The only explanation I can find is that there are people who like watching adverts, which is very hard to believe.

There are limits in public tv in croatia so usually adverts ate in between programs, extremely rarely during the show . On commercial tv there are many, have limited time but are long and do tend to interrupt programme.
Why i watch tv if im not a boomer – I actually like not living in a bubble and TV random as it is – manages to surprise me, unlike Netflix for instance..

not in germany: 20 minutes of advertising per day and not after 8 p.m. or on sundays/public holidays β ard, zdf and dlf is all you need.

“across Europe”?
Have you watched TV in any other country? It’s exactly the same thing. Broadcast TV is a dead concept
