Tesla is in a lot of trouble. They were the most valuable car company not because they were the biggest but because of expectations, particularly after Musk became allied with Trump. The stock price was far in excess of their earnings. The price to earnings ratio is a key measure of the value of a company’s stock. Earnings are now down 71% year over year and they have been overtaken by the largest car company in the world. China is also a significant threat. Musk doesn’t appear interested in saving Tesla even if he could. He appears distracted by the self driving taxi project and his name is an anathema. Tesla is a midsize car company and life is not easy for those companies in the best of times and with signs of a Republican led recession appearing stronger the future may not be the best of times.
I can’t see an American themed rally around “it’s important to buy American.” The Democrats hate Musk (go figure). The Republicans led by Trump are attacking all electric vehicles and that is the only thing Tesla sells. Also it appears Musk has lost his usefulness to Trump.
IMO what do we learn from this? (1) consumers have more political power than they think. (2) Musk isn’t that smart or dependable. (3) The Republicans attacks on electric vehicles are seriously jeopardizing American auto manufacturers other than Tesla. (3) Congress should be taking a close look at Space X. (4) Tesla is in a lot of trouble.
Tesla is going to die in EU.
Its expensive, so those who are cheering for Trump wont be able to afford it.
Those who can afford it wont be interested in being connected to Tesla because of Musk (and in extension Trump).
Tesla would need to ditch Musk to rebuild the trust, but they cant ditch him, because part of the value of stucks is Musks image of brilliant mind (which is crumbling).

Going by precedent, Volkswagen EVs are petrol cars when not being tested.
There are few large companies as shady. The fact that it wasn’t liquidated after Dieselgate and that only two low-levels employees were jailed speaks to how European governments are willing to protect corrupt car companies.
In a normal continent, every Volkswagen would have been recalled and every executive would be in jail. Instead we have pollution standards that are worse than useless.
Well VW are solid cars. There no need of Tesla if VW produces same quality and same price. In Europe we don’t lack in any color or brand of cars. So this is good news.
“Tesla falls behind of VW” might be more appropriate.
If we have to choose, Europe goes with the homegrown Nazi Mobile.
