That’s what it feels like.
They will keep increasing cost despite the cost of living. I thought we were slowly becoming the one of the wealthiest nations in the world but we still cover anything for our own citizens in times of crisis. They only let us have covid payment to avoid a crash and Because they can recoup the cost through taxes. I think we should really look into what our government is doing because its truely becoming a joke. Every day we see things getting rapidly more expensive and the government act as though we have more money than ever. We are making more money than ever because we are spending more money than ever. I think we might have the wrong people in charge. Nieve indeed but someone needs to be blamed for it. These things don’t just happen.
The government publish a report on the use of carbon tax revenues at each budget, latest one is here – https://assets.gov.ie/static/documents/budget-2025-the-use-of-the-carbon-tax-funds.pdf
> Ensure that the increases in the carbon tax are progressive by spending €3 billion on targeted
social welfare and other initiatives to prevent fuel poverty and ensure a just transition;
> Provide €5 billion to part fund a socially progressive national retrofitting programme; &
> Allocate €1.5 billion of additional funding to encourage and incentivise farmers to farm in a
greener and more sustainable way.
It means those of you who can’t afford to tap subsidies for e.g. solar panels and insulation grants etc., will be paying a tax to subsidise those who _can_ afford solar panels/insulation grants etc..
