      Christ on a bike

€1,150 in fines for each man. Ireland does not take Wildlife crime seriously whatsoever

Have the IFI had a sudden boost in funding or something? I don’t think I was really aware of them until this year and suddenly I’m seeing them around and articles like this are popping up.

As someone who does a lot of fishing , the penalties in this country are no deterent. I do mainly coarse fishing, and if you’re caught poaching, you get a huge fine of 140 euro and your gear confiscated, although you get your gear back when you pay the fine . My mate seen lads keeping fish in Cavan. He rang the IFI and they came down and fined them . They went to confiscated their gear , so one one the poachers drove to the village , took some money out of the atm , paid the fine and they continued fishing .

I wouldn’t mind paying for rod licenses if it would help beat the munchers.
