It’s more about not feeling safe rather than actively boycotting.

There’re news everywhere of people been mistreated so why risk instead going to other place.

Simply don’t arrest teenage tourists because they don’t have a hotel reservation for the last 2-3 days of a 3-week trip.

    3. Dystopics_IT on

Well, it could happen when you elect an anti-european President, who mocks and insults EU

    4. _marcoos on

U.S. Embassies posting anti-immigration nonsense on their social media (“VISA IS NOT A BIRTHRIGHT!!! YOU WILL BE DEPORTED!!!” in a huge red font, and e.g. the Warsaw embassy going the extra mile by doing it in a severly broken Polish) probably helped here as well. Thanks, Li’l Marco and the Dept. of State staff!

Nobody is boycotting because of politics. It’s just a matter of common sense and not wanting to spend the rest of your life in a Salvadorian gulag just because the border police officer doesn’t like you!

What did they expect? Donny started a trade war, couch fokker bashing on the EU. Nothing right now is even remotly appealing someone from Europe to visit the US. As a fact, every country is advising against visiting.

    7. Dillerdilas on

When I was young I wanted to visit, the situation in America since Obama finished his last term has removed any interest in going there.

The situation after the last while here has made me warn every member of my family and friends to not go there at all costs.

America has been on a long spiral downwards, but it seems like y’all just decided to jump down the stairwell instead of continuing the march down em.

As a european i diverted my American holiday plans to go to Canada instead.

      Highly recommended

Visiting USA already involved getting through an immigration-control done by petty kings.

And now it’s getting worse. I don’t understand why anyone would put themselves through that as part of a vacation at all.

And that’s before we even come to the fact USA is threathening allies with war.

Trump is a madman. His voters are worse. Stay safe, my friends across the pond. There are still plenty of us here fighting this monster, the GOP unleashed on the world. I hate him and the maga now. This it terrible. I have never known a good leader who divides people. He’s even turned Mexico and Canada against us. He’s bringing misery to all people everywhere. I have tried talking to the maga. To reason with them. To show them the truth and hard facts on the Dastardly things he has done through the years. I’ve been doing it for more than a decade now. It’s exhausting. The maga have fallen for the lies. The propaganda, the utter insanity of it all. I’ve seen old friends die due to his covid lies, I’ve seen others get close. He is a monster, and so are they. I have cut contact with any known maga and openly shun them at every opportunity. Many of us are fighting. Stay safe, my friends, and stay out of this shit-hole the GOP has created. Stay out of America. Try Canada or Mexico. They could use some love right now.

We have family in Rhode Island and planned to make a trip in 2026.

Not anymore. The prefascist administration is poisoning the minds of so many Americans (not the minds of my distant relatives fortunately).

The Trump administrations hate of Europe must not be rewarded. It‘s on the American people to vote for change in the next elections or it will be too late. The USA is basically in november 1932.

    12. Misleading headline – the US turned its back on Europe….

    13. Fission-Chips on

It’s not a political statement. It’s simply not worth putting myself through potential hell in case the border agent doesn’t like my gob, my attitude, my socials (which I had to submit) even though I have the visa

    14. nordzeekueste on

Who wants to spend thousands of dialers going to a country that makes you feel unsafe?
Enough countries in Europe I haven’t seen yet.

    15. klaagmeaan on

Uhm, it’s the other way around I think. The US turns it’s back on Europe, or allies in general.

    16. Gennaro_Svastano on

With all the deportations, racism, and trouble with ICE at the airports you have to be crazy to go to the US right now.

    17. TheKnightsRider on

The mystique of the US has evaporated over the last 15 years. It used to be a big draw, but the bi polar politics of you’re either with or against what ever thing is being discussed and the idiotic things they get behind has turned us away.

I was in NYC last year, and it’s getting back to the 80s in terms of the city’s attitude. It’s grimy, drugs/addicts are everywhere and mental health care has washed it hands of the most needy.

It’s not going to change for the good for a long time

    18. HoodRattusNorvegicus on

Who would have thought that the constant threats of annexing and economically attacking allies, siding with Russia and pushing far right propaganda has a negative effect /s

    19. Ziomike98 on

My whole family had a trip with forced layovers in either Britain, Canada or America. We did Canada and Britain, paying a bit more to avoid America.

Best choice ever, kind people, lovely places, good food and no Americans in sight.

    20. FakeHaseo on

I’m in no rush to go in “vacation” in a place where I could get shot or arrested for no reason

    21. NaturalPossible8590 on

Canada is turning its back too. Many of us are either exploring other parts of the country or checking out places on Europe

Who would have thought: electing an anti Europe, Imperialist president would involve pissing off everyone when they are targeted by a lunatic

    22. Upbeat_Parking_7794 on

Are you crazy? They way US treat people at the border? Going through or private life in mobile phones? The possibility to be randomly jailed?

Much better places to spend my holidays.

    23. Nice-Detective1085 on

Is it Europe turning their backs or is it America reaping what they sowed ? Gee I wonder why they wouldn’t want to come here?

    24. Stick a finger up your bum and wave it in our face with your other hand on your gun, and sure as fuck we’ll turn our back on our former friend.

    25. So America puts people at the border and airports in prisons without trial and then wonders, that people don’t want to come visit anymore?

    26. Why would anyone want to go on holiday to the US just to be surrounded by gloating MAGA fools, and risk being sent on a one way ticket to the CECOT prison in El Salvador?

    27. It’s not just about turning our back, you could do or say the wrong thing, or have your phone examined and then find yourself in a detention centre. I’ll go somewhere a little safer, like Vietnam or Cuba.

    28. Ezra_Starr on

Thank you. The #1 thing Europeans, Mexicans, Canadians, and anyone else can do to support Americans in their fight against republican fascism is to stop buying American products, stop visiting the United States, and stop thinking of us as your allies. As long as there are Republicans in power, America has no allies. Only oligarchy, autocracy, and greed.
