The Cigna Group is an American multinational for-profit managed healthcare and insurance company based in Bloomfield, Connecticut.

americans won’t get that you have to top your public insurance with that of an american company because the waiting times at the public are crazy?

I am American. Your public and private insurance cards? I hear the downside of public health insurance is that it creates a two tier system, with the public having long wait times / lower quality of care, and therefore private is used by those with the means.

Talking about health insurance? Or democracy? Or the judicial system? Or a welfare state? There is so much these people don’t understand..

Yeah, we get a few crumbs of our huge tax burden back once every 32th of the month, while those poor American have to manage their own wealth on their own… How lucky we are…

If you live in Spain the Cigna card isn’t necessary, but maybe that’s the point? I’ve got the top and the bottom one plus a card from Sanitas, a local providers (owned by Bupa). My experience is the US healthcare cards are not accepted here

Just like Europeans won’t get what a military budget is. We pay for your right to exist.

Americans don’t get “Rest of the world” at the international airports, so airports have additional US flag near Earth icon. So yeah, they might not get much.

Americans have been forced fed that this is the greatest country with the best of everything. Any American that’s traveled knows that there is a wealth of knowledge and understands that other countries have wonderful benefits that are greedy politicians. Don’t want us to know about. All they want to do is continue to line their own pockets and hold us down.

As an American with an understanding that our health system sucks compared to Europe, what’s the point of this post? Is this just another dig at Americans?

Not to be offensive, but there’s pros and cons in every country. For example, in Spain, the unemployment rate is 10% compared to the US at 4%. But what would be the point in making such post? I don’t gain anything.

I Have the EU-card for inside EU-travels. Here in Finland we have KELA-card, for (Government Health Insurance) but nobody use that card, because normal id-card, driving license or passport do the same thing (in Finland). But that European health insurance card needed in-europe traveling, so the another EU country can bill KELA Finland for medical care. Cost for me is exactly same than inside Finland (practically some of tens of euros).

Very cool. As Europe is forced to significantly ramp up its defense spending, I wonder what (if any) impact there will be on social services.

Imagine, you are a EU-Citizen, get hurt during vacation in another EU country and still get free health care. EU is lit.

Do you guys get a cocaine-level high each time you talk about something bad in America? Looking at comments sections like these it’s just a crazy form of behavior. If I just spent every hour of my day researching problems in India and going “omg we’re better than India at X… LOL omg we’re better than them at Y! Look! I found another thing we’re better than them at! They’re so bad at Z. Look look look how bad they are at it. It’s so bad. We’re better than them at it. Look at this one!” like… ok? Are you trying to achieve something with this?

    15. Considering that US doesn’t even have a national ID, because GESTAPO, meanwhile every federal institution requires a Social Security no. that’s **totally not an ID**, of course they won’t get it.

    16. Wise_Swordfish4865 on

And we, Europeans, are late at creating a EU-wide card instead of the regional bs.

u/odmort1 you see what’s going to happen now that mark fucking carney is in office? He’s going to ruin canadia!

Do you actually need the EHIC for seeking medical help within your own nation? I always understood that as something I need when travelling within the EU.

In Sweden, you just provide identification to demonstrate that you’re a resident (and therefore eligible for social insurance). I think in some cases all you do is state your personal identification number, and that’s taken care of.

Straight out of tax rates higher than the US. You pay for it regardless lol

In France, you sometimes have to wait up to 10 hours in the emergency room before being seen. Patients regularly die in the hallways, unable to receive care in time.
As for seeing a specialist, a cardiologist, pulmonologist, and so on, the wait can be up to six months.
In contrast, in the United States, you have access to some of the best doctors and hospitals in the world.
