My dash cam is full of them
Like people don’t realise how obvious it to everyone else that they are texting
It’s not only more people being caught but being caught doing stupider things like watching videos while driving
Ask any paramedic and they can tell you about road traffic accidents and finding Netflix still playing on the phone when they access the vehicle.
I’ve started beeping every time I see someone doing it in an oncoming car… It’s a lot.
Good. Fuck em.
Yet nothing is being done about it.
But sure, going 105 on a 100 is much more “dangerous”
I only started driving last year.
I knew it was a problem but now I’m on the road property, holy fuck is it bad.
I saw one driver come off a bend and continue on into a raised curb. The car bounced up off it and into the middle of the road.
It’s nearly every 2nd or 3rd vehicle, they’re still not catching anywhere near the amount they should be considering the amount I see nearly every day!
I see it constantly these days. Stopped at the lights and the car coming up behind you the driver blatantly looking down at their phone
It’s time to put mobile phone usage whilst driving in the same category as drink driving
Just have a plain-clothes Garda walk along a line of traffic between 5-5:30pm and dish out the tickets. If you’re on your phone when you’re at all operating a vehicle, you’re a xunt.
These days with blue tooth connections people really don’t have an excuse. Automatic 90 day ban instead of penalty points would make people think before they pick up their phone.
Need to set up cameras at stop lights looking down on people to see who’s on their phones. It’s so blatant now with people driving as they all know they get away with it
2 is more than 1… Up next in statistics… There was an additional 1k caught year over year. Claiming it is worsening because more are caught is causation. Being a pedestrian and cyclist id say it’s about the same level, a ridiculous amount. But to my point that is just anecdotal info. Surely phone manufacturers know better how much phones are being used at speed and how many are being used in cars in general.
