So does alcohol but dont see him sending people to jail over that

I see both sides. Alcohol is a scourge and more destructive than weed. But like it or not weed is illegal.

Absolutely lets join the likes of Canada and legalize is. Raise tax money, remove money from the gangs and now it is much harder for kids to get it plus you always know what you’re buying.

Sure they do, but often it’s the consequences of conviction for possession or addiction rather than the actual drug. Until we tackle the actual diseases of society, addiction to drugs, alcohol and gambling will remain the symptom.

As long as it’s illegal the drugs trade will continue to destroy lives.

I thought Ireland was moving towards a heslth-led approach like Portugal?

If you could grow it legally, then the money would be taken out of the “bad guys” pockets.

    8. Wish they would just legalize it so I can get nice easy access to edibles, 10mg gummies that have you higher than a kite and you don’t stink, bliss.

No. The outdated and moronic laws surrounding drugs destroy people’s lives and created the drug trade to begin with.

      “Drugs trade ‘destroys people’s lives’”

      – person who destroys peoples’ lives for having a bit of weed

Tbf they’re the ones who made growing a plant illegal, so now you have to risk funding organised crime to get it. Cannabis isn’t for everyone but it can be life changing for certain people (chronic pain, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s, trauma therapy etc), but even still, as a recreational drug, informed adults should be able to make their own choices and have safe access.

Also ‘destroys people’s lives’, when it comes down to Alcohol vs Cannabis, it’s a landslide victory for Cannabis being the safer and healthier of the two.

They don’t want you healthy, relaxed and curious they want you stressed, addicted and distracted.

Everyone seems to forget – or doesn’t understand/realise – that alcohol is a drug, and it causes more deaths directly and indirectly – per annum than all illicit substances combined.

Cannabis has never caused someone to commit murder, or beat their partner, or abuse their kids – and it causes far fewer RTAs.

The only dangerous thing about cannabis is getting caught with it.

If “drugs destroy lives”, then why isn’t alcohol illegal…?

Drugs don’t destroy lives, prohibition does.

Ireland seems very wedded to a draconian and quite backward drugs policy — not quite sure why but we seem to be even more draconian than many US red states on it.

You’d expect us to be more like say Canada etc at this point, but we’re not.

It doesn’t even remotely reflect the reality of what’s going on here or provide any practical path to deal with it.

If that judge drinks alcohol then he’s a hypocrite.
