      So… what happens now? They will hold a second round right but that is a massive pushback. Also, is the vote transparent, do they know who from the coallition voted against?

      What does that mean concretely ? Does he get an other chance or do they have to propose a new candidate ?

      I see the Germans are taking their usual time to form a Government.

    5. They have 14 days to get him elected with a regular majority election. It’s up to him or the Bundestag to have the elections as they please. After that it suffices if the “yes” votes outnumber the “no” votes. So he will most likely get elected, just later…

      They need to keep doing it until Merz is replaced he’s a bit too extreme, Germany needs a moderate Chancellor.

      His rhetoric regarding asylum seekers and immigration will lead Germany into the dangerous path.

      One by one, our neighbouring countries have really outdone us with their political shenanigans the past few years. Not sure how to feel. This is supposed to be our thing.

      Ouch. This is the second time after the disastrous vote on border security where Merz got hurt politically by a surprise Bundestag vote. And all of this even before he began his term as chancellor.

      With AFD drooling over the shoulder I’m not sure this is good.

      I just want pro-democracy parties in power no matter progressive or conservative. As long as they are democratic
