My bet is that SPD backbenchers torpedoed the first vote as a way to voice Thier displeasure over yet another Black-Red coalition which will continue to erode their reputation as the workers party

and just like with all of his previous warning shots, this idiot will learn absolutely nothing from this disaster
edit: a good politician respects their coalition partner and population, and Merz really doesn’t

This government is not going to last 4 years anyway… it would be entertaining to see how they will implode if I didn’t live here…

Anyone TLDR? Why was there a second vote? Did they just say they didn’t like the outcome of first one so they redid the vote? Or did this second vote have different rules?

What was the point of voting no if you are going to vote yes a few hours later? In the times we are living in you can’t have these theatrics.

Supposedly with the backing of some Green and Left party votes that didn’t want this clowm show to drag on for days or weeks.

What did they say/do to convince the no-voters to vote yes? Or maybe some no-voters voted no because they thought he would get elected anyway and wanted to show symbolistic discontent and then changed their vote after they saw he really didnt get elected?

Maybe the MPs are just lazy or stupid.
Here in Slovenia a law suggested by the opposition passed last year because coalition MPs thought it wouldn’t pass anyway and couldn’t be arsed to press the right button when voting. Then they launched a parliamentary enquiry about compromised voting machines and suggested that they got hacked.
