      More investment in renewables, the grid and interconnectors needed.

      A move away from one-off housing wouldn’t do any harm either.

      In fairness, the European grid is huge and interconnected. A small isolated grid like Ireland on the periphery of Europe where wages are way above average was never going to be cheap

      Sounds about right. Ireland is richer than most EU states.

      Anyway, average means average. Half pay more than the average, and half pay less than the average. (EDIT, assuming it is approximately a normal distribution)

      We have much higher wages, in fairness. Nevertheless the message is to shop around.
