Wow sounds entitled! I wonder why she paid rent for the first two years if she was in an “elite status”.

Sound like this one has a high opinion of herself and needs some psych help
Ms Egan had been paying the rent for the first two years of the tenancy, which began in July 2021, telling the tribunal that she stopped when she “did not have the money”.
However, the tenant claimed that she was a person of “elite status” and argued that she was not legally obliged to pay rent due to this status.

Reading the article it seems a bit sordid that a national paper of record is reporting on this case as it’s someone who is clearly not mentally well.
I guess it’s a court hearing so in the public interest but I can’t help feeling bad for her and any family she has.
Not sure about the wisdom of publishing this in the way that the RTB decided to here. This is very clearly someone who is unwell.

There’s a hint of sovereign citizen logic here

So she has elite status because she’s an Irish citizen? I never know I was elite! I’m going out to get some of those biscuits! I won’t feel like I don’t deserve them now

As if someone of Elite Status would be living in Swords. If she was in Kingstown then I’d be on her side.

I have no problem with this woman’s case in the paper. If you go to court, your case is in the public realm and therefore, is fair game unless the judge slaps reporting restrictions on it. It’s fair to suggest she might not be all there mentally but she offered this defence in open court, a defence which any court reporter worth their salt would hear and say ‘that’s a novel defence’ and consider it newsworthy.
Also, it doesn’t say in the article whether her lawyer offered up any mental incapacity for her actions so, I’m my opinion, this is fair game.
