LOL what the US fails to realize is that city recruitment is predominantly anonymous, at least in Helsinki. I can imagine other capitals have a similar process when it comes to hiring. The US is convinced that their “DEI” obsession has infiltrated everywhere, when really we just laugh in their faces.

But trying to understand the bizarre perspective, european and swedish govt-linked pension funds have been pushing in a very similar way for these DEI strategies to be implemented among firms they borrow to or invest in: DEI policy or face blacklisting.

Maybe we could all just chill out a bit with the threats on businesses. We set the precedent and we’ve created a bit of a monster where firms get caught in the middle of culture wars.

Which is fully true, no one has to do anything when USA digs a hole under their own feet. The society around their embassy will not change so if USA has made rules that it has to follow: bye bye embassy. Which might easily happen, that USA withdraws embassies and and then realizes that such a move also cuts diplomatic relations with multiple countries, then backtracks with haste, while making HUGE holes in the diplomatic relations in the process.
