It’s time to say good-bye to another volunteer. This time it’s good-bye to a legend.

Chris “Swampy” Garrett was one of the volunteers that PAV had matched with donors. They were helping support the operational costs for the amazing work Prevail does.

We could say a hundred things about Swampy and it still wouldn’t be enough. Instead we will just say that the reason PAV started supporting Prevail’s work and specifically Swampy’s training was that a team that he trained reached out to us to ask us to help him saying “he taught us things that will save our lives.”

We will never know just how many lives he saved in Ukraine or how many more will still be saved by the thousands of people he trained. We were proud to support his work and will continue to support the work of his colleagues.

Swampy leaves behind a wife and child. Both he and his wife have volunteered for years to help Ukrainians (she runs the medical evacuation component of Prevail’s work.) This fundraiser goes to cover Swampy’s funeral costs, repatriation to the UK, and any remaining money goes to his wife and children: [https://www.gofundme.com/f/InMemoryOfSwampy](https://www.gofundme.com/f/InMemoryOfSwampy)

Swampy was a close colleague of mine and a dear friend. I’ve unfortunately gotten very used to losing people but this one cuts especially deep and one that I really didn’t see coming at all.

Thank you for saving lives and for teaching how to save lives.
