      In an interview, a journalist from ESC United asked [Ziferblat ](https://www.instagram.com/ziferblat_band?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==) whether the war gave Ukrainian contestants an advantage.
      ESC United later removed the video and apologized for the incident.
      Ziferblat, Ukraine’s entry for Eurovision 2025, will perform their song “Bird of Pray” as number 5 in the first semi-final on May 13.

      Without beating around the bush: Is the war going to result in a lot of votes from people sympathetic to the ukrainian cause (because of the war)? Absolutely. Many ESC contestants have won/finished high over the years because of tragedies in their native countries making international news.

      Is the war an advantage for them in any other way? Absolutely not. I’m pretty sure they’d prefer not to be in this situation.

      I don’t know if he’s suggesting that performers are participating knowing they will have better chances of winning and hence that is part of the calculation to participate. That’s a depraved mind if so.
