It’s nice that they’re trying to make him feel at home.
“There is no freedom of speech without consequences”, thats what everyone here says.
Why does this guy get a sob story in the guardian for this tweet, but the ex-cop who tweeted and had “brexity books” doesnt get any symphathy (only in the dailymail & telegraph)?
Also why are we always pretending that our laws are better than Saudi Arabia’s? We can arrest for tweets but they cant? If I was an expat living in Saudi I would take the money and keep my mouth shut about politics.
I don’t get it. What did he tweet that was so bad? Anyone know?
What’s the sob story for? That country the fellow went to, is an independent sovereign nation with it’s own laws.
So, that screw what ever nationality the idiot is shielding himself with. He breaks the law of their land he pays the price. The UK has no right to interfere in another nations judicial system.
That is absolutely awful and the Saudis are shady to say the least.

This is why I don’t go to “shithole countries” for any reason.
As someone who has worked in Saudi. You need to be really careful what you do out there and you need to be on your best behaviour. Be careful what you put on social media don’t be an idiot in public.
You get paid a lot of money to work there because of how restrictive it is.
