I know everyone hates Trump, rightly so. But this is a good strategic move from Zelenskyy. He’s trying to keep Trump close and on his side. Zelenskyy and team are betting: A. that Putin won’t bother showing up on Thursday. And B. Putin won’t agree to a 30 day ceasefire now and will most likely keep bombing Ukrainian cities. If he does show up he offer is going to be something the US/Trump thinks is unfair, like complete disarming of Ukraine or whatever they were on about before.
Really the only “card” Putin has to play is to make an offer for peace that is acceptable to the Americans but unacceptable to Ukraine / Europe. Thus, driving a wedge between the two and getting Trump on his side.
So Putin has a dilemma, either peace on terms that are undesirable for him or keep fighting and decline / ignore peace attempts which will (likely) have undesirable sanctions and aid for Ukraine.
Good, show him how his bullshit has so far panned out.
So that’s Putin, Zelensky and Trump. And Europe gets left behind yet again, angrily shaking it’s fist while it’s neighbours ignore it.
Two most evil guys in one location? Good opportunity.

It is unconstitutional for Zelensky to negotiate with Russia. Or did they take that provision out of the constitution?
Very good. If Trump comes, Putin should actually come too, because otherwise he looks like a chicken . Furthermore, here wants to show Trump that he is really interested in negotiations.
There are probably discussions going on in the background now.
But If such a meeting between the three really did take place, there would of course be a risk for Zelenskyi that the scene from the Oval Office could be repeated in Istanbul.
