Remove sheep, irish hills, and mountains would have a far better effect.

Just block off large portions of land and let nature grow itself natural forests over 20 years.

Well done. Slowly but surely hopefully we get there. I planted 3500 native trees through this initiative 10 years ago. The forest has already brought so much mature compared to dead grazing land.

The Miyawaki method of planting is controversial, it has it’s [pros and cons](https://rewilding.academy/ecosystem-restoration/pros-and-cons-of-the-miyawaki-concept-and-tiny-forests/) but at least they are doing something to address the disgraceful amount of tree planting in Ireland.

The method requires dense planting in a small area which forces trees to compete with each other. For example: say you plant 50 tree seedlings in 10m2, not all of the 50 seedlings will grow to maturity and most will die off.

Personally, I feel it’s better to plant those 50 tree seedlings with a better spacing to allow more of them to grow.

Nobody cares. There are enough trees in the country already.
