“He cited a survey by the Public Opinion Research Center in Warsaw that showed support for helping Ukrainians falling from 94% at the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022 to 57% in December 2024. ”
There may be a shift, but 57% is still a huge number of support. And frankly once these right-wing politicians get less airtime once they lose the election, people will hear less propagandist sentiment and it’ll rise more again
Current polls: Nawrocki(26%) is still 6% below Trzaskowski (31%), who’s the lead candidate and has very normal, supportive views towards Ukraine. And that other guy Mentzen sits at 13%.
N&M are the focus of this article, to spin this, with T hardly mentioned (and no mention at all about his overall policies in support of Ukraine). Overall, reminds me of something I recently heard: “The way some journalists work these days is they’ll first think of a headline/angle, and then go looking for facts/people that fit that angle”.
I’m not saying it’s not factually correct, and author tried some balance. But it does seem rather skewed 70-30 instead of 50/50 to fit that angle.

Comes down to predict trumpist ‘wording’ is spreading in some particular circles. Then goes on to throw around some polish currency numbers for refugee but fails to set them into perspective. Also classic move to project problematic stuff to open the pockets of EU to jump in, no surprise at all.
Also read it a little bit like someone trying hard to get normal WH press corps access again as a side effect.
Sincerely hope my fellow Polish Europeans don’t let it slip. We have to defend our free societies that our parents made possible following 1989, where we acknowledge responsibility of the strongest, help the weakest and most important reject any form of occupant russki mir who see us just as slaves.

Russian propaganda is working overtime in Poland to turn them against Ukraine, their efforts are unfortunately pretty effective, there are a lot of Ukrainian refugees in Poland, and rubots spin up blaming them for all local social issues

Clickbait article. Politicians talking tough to get elected then doing nothing substantial.
Why? Because Ukrainian immigrants are vital to Poland’s economy. They are doing the lower level jobs that Poles don’t want to do. They’re also starting businesses, generating consumer activity, boosting property valuations. Polish officials have stated that their economy would contract without Ukrainian labor. Their politicians know this and will do nothing besides talk tough because none want to be blamed for hurting the economy.
Millions of Poles left Poland between 2004 and 2022 seeking higher wages abroad. So Poland had to fill that gap by opening their borders to Ukrainians. Many Poles abroad have been returning in recent years but it’s a drop in the bucket.

Overwhelming support is still there. With that said, I hear a lot of recent migrants don’t want to learn the language cause they can survive pretty well with Ukrainian in large cities like Warsaw. This will with time generate conflict and needs to be fixed.
