Didn’t know they sold those, all this time I’ve just been ordering cappuccinos

It would be really good if this country to alcoholism more seriously.

I’m surprised this doesn’t happen more often. In a stressful job, levels of alcohol consumption and abuse are always high, and teaching is no exception.

A teacher can afford Costa wine, I can’t even afford their coffee.

How times change.
I worked in a school for many years, and for a long time, it was customary, on special occasions, to have wine at lunch. Those special occasions seemed to happen rather often – birthdays, visiting speakers, school events etc. If someone over did it at lunch the Deputy Head would just sub another teacher in for the afternoon lessons. Then a new head came in and was a bit shocked to see the Head of Classics half asleep in class and put a stop to it.

I’m a teacher and we sometimes get wine with lunch to celebrate certain things. As the head said, ‘ there is nothing inappropriate about adults doing adult-appropriate things’.

If I had the workload and pay of a teacher I’d probably be an alcoholic too TBF

Brown paper bag is usually the socially acceptable method?

I’d be driven to alcohol as well if I had to deal with kids all day.

I used to work at a school. I have never seen as much casual consumption of class As and alcohol as I have on the work nights out. Everyone had a bag of something in their wallet or purse
