Considering Russia has stolen 20% of Ukraine, and destroyed the lives of millions of Ukrainians,
I think the grain is a minor issue.

If you got an army but can’t feed them you don’t have an army. The german soldiers realized they lost the war when they saw a freshly baked cake in one of the supply runs they intercepted for the allies.
It’s the fact that not only could they barely feed themselves, but also that the supply chains for the allies were so good that they could reliably deliver a fucking cake before it started to become stale. The cake was for a soldiers birthday btw..
Of course they want to raid Ukrainian grain. The more interesting question is is it out of desperation or do they think Ukrainians have weak supply lines despite pretty much unanimous european support? The former seems more likely.
