Good. Clearly things need improving in those communities if Labour aren’t good enough to earn the votes.
Hopefully Labour can address these concerns, and each party holds eachother to account at both local and national level.
Just a shame it took a Reform landslide for them to pull their finger out.
Edit: Hoping the government spends money on deprived and frustrated communities and improves the country is apparently deserving of downvotes. Never change Reddit.

Decades, actual literal decades of the same crappy policy of investing in London and shoveling out charity to everyone else expecting them to be grateful… and their bright idea is to keep going?
Infrastructure and jobs worth doing, it’s not hard.

Let the pork barrel politics begin.
Fuck just doing the job properly for all of the communities in the country, eh?

It only took Reform becoming a political threat for Labour to give a shit about places outside the M25, lol.

I feel like Labour are in a weird situation where Reform voters aren’t going to vote for Starmer no matter how far right he goes and by going further right he’s just alienating the left wing Labour voters

This is good for the country but will definitely back fire.
Instead of winning back voters in these areas it will just make Reform stronger.

This is what they need to do. People who are insecure are panicky, stupid and gullible. Panicky, stupid and gullible people are the core targets for Reform. Give the people in these areas a life worth living and they’ll become more generous, tolerant and open-minded. Probably not all of them, but enough to turn the tables on the Russian agenda.
However, I’m not sure that some superficial regeneration will be enough. It’s certainly welcome, but there needs to be jobs and ways for people to make a decent enough living. They could learn from Germany, where industry is spread throughout the country, rather than being focused in a few areas. Most places have a factory of some kind, preventing areas from becoming economically inactive.

Labour spending money in areas previously ignored by the tories, and not spending money depending how an area votes.
Like the tories did.

This is pretty much third-world style vote buying. Shows you how desperate Labour is becoming.

Perhaps it’ll be different, but plenty of areas that received lots of EU funding still voted for Brexit significantly. So while investing in deprived areas is good if it is with good motivations, they might still be disappointed in their electoral fortunes.

A sad, simple truth of politics is it pays to be a swing voter. Whilst it’s great that these areas are going to get some much needed investment (a little hope in the future goes a long way), I would have loved it to have been on the cards already instead of a reaction to Reform. I’ve seen little to suggest that Reform have true solutions to a lot of the problems they’ll readily soapbox, so I hope this at least tempers their impact unless they can demonstrate a proper ability to govern.

Sounds to me like they only care if it could affect their position of power. I guess the more things change, the more they stay the same.

still much more lesser than how much Labour spent on illegal migrants
