I have always had very good experiences with DHL.

My Evri (Hermes) experiences have been mixed.

If they ‘meet in the middle’ regarding performance then overall we lose?

So you will pay more and receive a worse service to increase shareholder value.

Buried at the bottom of the article is:

“The merger is still subject to approval from the Competition and Markets Authority.”

In this case I would hope there is a serious possibility it is not approved. It is already too difficult to avoid having the nightmare of dealing with Evri, and this would make it even harder. There seems to be zero benefit to consumers from allowing them to stifle competition by creating a huge shitty monopoly.

Does this mean we’ll get upto the minute tracking and updates of which bush or roof that the Evri drivers gonna throw my parcel?

    5. Oh great. Instead of having some parcels not be delivered because the deliveryman can’t even be arsed to knock or having some parcels be launched into my wheelie bin when I explicitly tell them to leave it with my neighbour, now I’ll have to deal with my parcels not even being left in the bin because this merged deliveryman can’t be arsed. And god help me if I need to return anything because I’ve yet to find an Evri returns machine with a functioning scanner.

Shit + shit = More shit. This is going to just make the cycle of people hating couriers and couriers loathing recipients even worse.

Evri and DHL merge to make even more parcels go missing.

Only ever had DHL once and it was fine.

Evri, I have genuinely NEVER had a good experience, to the point where if I know that what I intend to buy will be delivered by them, I simply won’t buy it and look elsewhere for someone that doesn’t use Evri (unless you are given the choice of courier).

One time they claimed they “tried to deliver but I wasn’t in” which was a flat out lie – I was in all day and I have a Ring doorbell which proved they never even came to my house. This happened two days in a row with the same parcel before it was finally delivered on the third day where it was just left on the doorstep, in full view of the street, without a knock or a ring of the door bell. Made a complaint but was fobbed off to the point it was no longer worth my time to pursue any more.

Did DHL not sell their B2B AND B2C off to Yodel years ago? Now they are getting back into that game again?

    10. bahumat42 on

I hope this gets blocked. Evri are by far the worst of the big players.

Removing DHL as another option when trying to get things delivered is only a bad thing.

Why the hell would you take on the evri name? They’re so in the mud they had to change from Hermes and hasn’t gotten better.

    12. setokaiba22 on

I’ve always found DHL to be good but only really used them for international stuff.

I’m assuming if those goes through nothing will change for years and Evri will continue to be shit

    13. Sir_Henry_Deadman on

So are they going to lose more or less parcels now?

    14. dollhousemassacre on

Does this make them twice as shit? Or shit, squared?

    15. This is the DHL e-commerce side of the company, DHL have many different divisions, most people may know the courier side as been DHL Express. The e-commerce side is what UK Mail used to be before DHL bought them out.

At least it’s means there’s one less company to be angry with every week

Never had any issues with DHL, never had anything other than issues with EVRI, should be interesting to see if DHL can overcome EVRI’s inherent shiteness

Remember folks, capitalism doesn’t always lead yo innovation. And this will be case in point.

Yodel is the worse and should be fined and taken down

I’m imagining the opening scene of ace Ventura with the parcel :/

Seeing this post a few minutes after having a notification from Evri that my parcel has been delivered. I was at home all day, no one knocked, no one used a doorbell…the parcel is leaning against the door facing a busy street 😑

    22. Kieran293 on

Two worst in my area, makes sense.

Evri delivery driver is nice but their backend sucks.

DHL parcels arrive looking like they’ve gone through war.

Royal Mail & DPD are good and reliable though.

    23. Two wrongs don’t make a right. But they will take a left anyway and leave a note saying nobody was home even though you’re outside gardening at the front door.

    24. ok_not_badform on

Ngl, before and throughout lockdown (before the rebrand) my Evri deliveries had been awful.

The guy would dump all his packages into an alley near my home and chuck them about. I told him that it’s not very professional to do. From that point on he refused to deliver to me for over 3 years. This included medication, expensive items and just general things I paid hard earned money for.

I raised complaints and they went nowhere. I looped in the CEO and Press office and they assigned someone to my issues and concerns. It turned out he was marking them are missing or damaged and just didn’t deliver them.

We had to change medication providers, contact sellers and pay extra for them to use alternative delivery services and it was just a hassle.

However, the last 2 years we have a new delivery lady for Evri and she’s honestly one of my favourite’s. She has a uniform (last one looked like a proper scruff). She actually makes time to speak via our doorbell camera and if we can’t answer she places it in our safe location. I think Evri get’s a bad rep due to the self employed delivery agents that don’t give af. I get it, they are over worked and underpaid (aren’t we all). But getting someone who actually cares makes such a huge difference.

DHL is ok in my area. I find DPD and RM are my preferred.
