Ciao a tutti,

The actual translation is closer to Husbandry-association, and it’s indeed an association dedicated to improving agriculture and animal husbandry.

The reverse is the Coat of Arms of the county of Jönköping along with agricultural tools.

[Jönköpings läns Hushållningssällskap are still around today](https://hushallningssallskapet.se/hushallningssallskapet-jonkoping/).

The second is a ferry token for the steam ferries that transported travelers between different locations around Stockholm. Stockholms Ångslups AB was the result of a merger between many independently owned steam ferries into a single corporation, and the first half of the 20th century was the height of the stockholm ferry traffic. There are still some ferries today (servicing Stockholm and the nearby archipelago) but nowhere near what there used to be.

P.S: The price of the token, 10 öre, indicates that it’s from the very beginning of the 20th century.

Sweden’s oldest Agricultural Society – founded in the 18th century

The Swedish Agricultural Societies have a long tradition as knowledge providers within agriculture, land management, forestry, related water resources, and rural development. Hushållningssällskapet Gotland is the oldest in the country and has existed for more than 200 years. It was founded on April 3, 1791, following King Gustav III’s encouragement to establish agricultural societies across the Swedish realm. Gotland and Åbo County were the first (Finland was part of Sweden until 1809), while other societies were formed at a county level during the first half of the 19th century. Since 1850, Agricultural Societies have existed in all counties of Sweden.

The original purpose was to stimulate increased and rational food production. Later, the scope was significantly broadened to include a variety of missions for the general development of society. Among other things, the Agricultural Society has run agricultural schools for long periods, been the first rural organization, and initiated the first agricultural cooperative associations.

From this historical foundation, the Agricultural Societies have evolved into a knowledge-based organization that today serves farmers, rural entrepreneurs, universities, authorities, and other institutions.
