So, no policeman can now be sacked for sending obscene images on their work phone, good to know. They’ll all be at it, displaying their truncheons to the public at large. Great society we’re living in, evening all!

Perfectly acceptable – just a modern version of a calling card these days…😂

Hope they didn’t have to put him in a line up to establish it was his penis…

3 years for shouting at horses and kicking wheelie bins remember.

What else is he supposed to send it with? Carrier pigeon?

Police force in this country is corrupt and not fit for purpose. They protect their own and senior officers face no consequences no matter how they abuse their power.

I think from reading the comments people are under the impression he sent them to someone who didn’t want to receive them. However, that is not the case.

It happens, I once heard of a guy using his work photo-id machine whose trousers happened to fall down on laundry day at the exact time the camera was tested while he was standing on a chair to change a light fitting (although that wasn’t his job).

As least that’s what he said happened. Also it didn’t explain how the image was printed & laminated.

If this was a private company, the person would have been dismissed for gross misconduct; why doesn’t the Met Police treat this incident the same.

Regardless as to whether the intended recipient was consenting, it still amounts to an abuse of work devices and misconduct in a public office.

Obviously using a work phone for this type of thing is inappropriate but a final written warning seems appropriate for a first time offence as opposed to dismissal. That’s the approach I would take if this was one of my employees so long as there were no other concerns.

The only reason this is news is because they’re a police officer.

Spared the sack??? I mean, what a complete and utter idiot. I’d rather not have someone like this in the police force.

    12. By spared the sack do they mean he only took a picture of the shaft?

This is how guys like Wayne Couzins flew under the radar. Let me be clear, there is no place sexual conduct, or misconduct for that matter, anywhere in a workplace setting, or on workplace devices and computers. This is absolutely gross misconduct and he should be fired immediately. It’s disgraceful behaviour and he has no place working as a police officer. People who are letting this slide are just as big of a problem as the officer in question. There can’t be any grey area here, where anything like this is remotely acceptable. I find this despicable – He should be fired. Period. With a record of sexual misconduct in his personal record.
