there needs ot be a system for removing failed asylum seekers, as it is most just end up staying and working illegally.

This would be less of a deterrent than sending them to third countries on arrival while their claim is processed.

How is this any better than a less effective version of the Rwanda deal?

    3. mattymattymatty96 on

How about we return them to Franc…. Oh wait we had one of those agreements but we threw it all away in the name of perceived sovereignty

    4. Virtual-Feedback-638 on

      Why?
JUST STOP THE F3CKING BOATS, and Sud the International law.

Literally the only impressive thing about this guy is his uncanny ability to piss off the left & the right at the same time, every time he opens his mouth to let out another wet fart of a Tory-lite policy.

Goddamnit, my country back home is trying to criminalize my existence article 8 might’ve been my strongest case and now I’m having more doubts even though they’re trying to criminal my existence that should help me I hope they take pity on me because I’m ready to work immediately and I’m getting no government support and I entered legally

    7. Diligent-Depth-4002 on

how about just send all enter illegally back? and toughen up the border securty?

    8. How about the West Falkland Island?

People would absolutely not come here if that was their destination. Plus the Argentinians wouldn’t want it back!

So like Rwanda? The policy that Labour trashed and discredited repeatedly?

Sooo Rwanda deal? That you cancelled. Which UK build infrastructure is now being used by Germany? Cool.

Return hubs can also collect your eBay/Amazon packages at the same time

      How about Rwanda?

Oh wait. You turned it off because Tories bad?

    13. apple_kicks on

Depends is this before or after an appeal? Since if appeal fails theres already a deportation process

Could is the magic word here. Kier starmer could actually tell the truth one day. I trust pinocchio more.

    15. PhilosopherNo8418 on

This is not going to stop the boats or “smash the gangs”. The way to stop this problem immediately is to remove them from the country as soon as they arrive illegally. Or stop them from reaching the UK in the first place. Anything else is just pointless.

      Starmers a racist prick

We knew that when he said it was fine for the zionist occupation of Palestine to dehydrate and starve Palestinians to death

Under his boss McSweeneys guidance, he becomes more and more of a far right authoritarian by the day

I honestly believe he’s deliberately creating the circumstances for the far right to win the next GE. No one, not even Starmer, could actually be this fvcking stupid.

Reform fascist mugs will never vote Labour. They think Starmers ‘new new Labour’ is ‘communist’. Attacks on disabled people, trans people and refugees have alienated labours core vote

How would sending failed asylum seekers to overseas return hubs help the failed asylum seekers?

Much of the rhetoric on this issue seems to have forgotten the human in the story.

    18. Witty-Bus07 on

No one in government seems at all concerned with this asylum costs that us taxpayers are paying for.

    19. Estimated-Delivery on

Sir Starmer, it could but it won’t because our justice system won’t let it happen: my advice, don’t make promises you can’t deliver. What you should say is, that once an undocumented migrant arrives, they’re free to stay here as long as they like and will be provided with accommodation – sorry that’s it’s not much but we can’t really afford better ATM – food and clothing and a bit of pocket money for, oh I don’t know, ‘till your on your feet. If you said that, it’d be true and we’d all understand.

The number of people in these comments saying “muh Rwanda” (regardless of whether they’re being deliberately disingenuous or genuinely don’t understand that this is a completely different solution) really shows how far the level of discourse in this country has fallen.
