      He’s not wrong, the UK and Canada are the ones talking on the CPTPP’s behalf so unless the EU wishes to become irrelevant on the world stage it is best they work with the CPTPP as we are all friendly nations:

      The UK wanted and the UK negotiated its complete ejection from the European Union and the European political system. Let’s keep it that way.

      My hypothesis: France has had global cultural ambitions forever. They despise the english because they were their largest competitor during colonial times. For this same reason, they despise America now. I dont fault them for it, because America and England are the same way, but its always an underlying issue. 
      Their relationship with Germany is strong lately because Germany is afraid to lead, so they become defacto leader of EU with german economic support.

      Macron is a big mouth with a small stick. Always taking the hardline with his words, but never with action. He’s much closer to Trump than people want to admit.
