Make so much money from the children’s hospital, they can absolutely afford to under cut every one else
Madness, i don’t know who was in charge of the dunkettle interchange but as someone who travelled every day during its build thought it was done pretty flawlessly and has had good results. BAM are a bunch of crooks.

Bam are crooked cowboys, and will turn a €450m project into €2 billion contract.
Road projects almost never overrun and BAM build loads of roads. Its not a comparable project to a one-off childrens hospital.
This is one of those projects with lots of knock on effects. The motorway enables the move of lots of additional traffic to Ringaskiddy, including the use of it for Wind Farm construction.
And the land freed up by those moves (in Tivoli especially) becomes available for development.
But, BAM though. Between the children’s hospital, the Cork event centre, the previous Tivoli docks relocation… has any project of theirs gone to plan?

Road projects are a lot more predictable that hospitals for example.
Like they usually have complete design before they hand out road contracts, unlike hospitals apparently.
I really think there needs to be a complete reboot across so many government bodies. We’ve people without a shred of expertise signing away billions willy nilly.
Generational wealth is being made by people leasing out derelict buildings for IPA centres. Meanwhile, there are thousands of derelict buildings owned by the state just lying there.
After the children’s hospital, how can BAM win a tender.
Who has been doing the work so far in the fields parallel to Carrs Hill up until the Shannonpark Roundabout? And what exactly has been done to date?
BAM are shitheads but they can build motorways fairly efficiently at least.
You’d get a lot of OPW bike sheds for that much.
The thing is unfortunately there aren’t many contractors in Ireland who can manage these large scale projects, even less who can manage infrastructure such as a motorway. There was probably only a handful of bidders.

€456m?? Sure BAM dont get out of bed in the morning for less than a billion. I’d say you could add a 0 to the end of that number and we’d be closer to the actual profit BAM will make on this project.
