I remember seeing Donal on telly as a kid and being so moved by him,
Pope Leo is a G
I remember seeing this chap’s family twice come talk in school. As someone who now works in the mental health sector, their message on suicide is horrifically outdated.
I’m sure the lad was a good chap and the intentions seem decent but such an out of touch sentiment. It can be summed up as “well I’m terminally ill, so you should appreciate your life and not be so depressed. Why take your life when I have no choice in dying”.
As a teenager who was morbidly depressed, being forced to sit through that presentation just upset me. felt both isolated and judged for feeling the way I did. Seemed so condescending and just unhelpful, totally disregarding why a teenager might consider ending their life.
Not taking away from how horrible it is that he had to go through what he did and passed at such a young age , just the message is worth plenty of criticism.
2013? Jesus is it really that long ago?
