So-called “conversion therapies”, which aim to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity, have unfortunately not been banned in Luxembourg yet.
In fact, only 8 of the 27 EU countries have so far banned these “conversion therapies”, which the UN describes as torture. A European Citizens’ Initiative now wants to change that. The deadline expires in a few hours, and 30.000 signatures are still needed to reach the minimum threshold of 1 million. A few hundred thousand signatures have been added in the last few days, but Luxembourg definitely still has potential. I would be delighted if we Lëtzebuerger could also do our part.
