Well, yea, because it’s not even a deal. It’s a mutual agreement.
We don’t have to, they have to. Brexit is a gift that just keeps on giving. But hey, blue passports!

EU doesn’t want to give Trump a reason to brag/lie about his whole Tariff scheme being a long play to get concessions on new trade agreements. Starmer was in much less position to hold firm on his nations interests, so he played into Trump’s ego to get whatever he could get out of dealing with him.
