      >“I just feel that it was a missed opportunity. Yes, people were sometimes fed bullshit. But they were asked if we wanted to come out and people around here literally voted in their droves for it. We’ve never really seen the investment we were promised.”

How do you argue with this delusion? How do they not come to the conclusion that that investment that was promised was never going to come and that they were lied to? They decided to listen to charlatans and non-experts and are still wondering why what they were purporting is not actually happening. It’s honestly infuriating sometimes seeing this basic lack of critical thinking in people.

      “Feels like we never left”

Well go and try to move to an EU member state now. See how that feels.

    3. Questjon on

      >Money that she believed had been saved by exiting the EU should have been channelled into improving it and other public services, she said.

They still don’t understand the scale of the lies. There was no money saved! It was a Costco membership, sure you pay a monthly fee but you save more than you pay for membership. We lost money leaving the EU!

    4. >Everythings shit, we know we were lied to, the investments we were promised havent happened and we’d vote for it all again!

      *Incoherent rage*

      “We never left”

      What does this mean ?

Is this people so brain-dead that they think that the UK is somehow still part of the EU?

The UK left. Europeans left the UK too.

I don’t understand what they mean.

    6. 99thLuftballon on

So maybe, for the good of the country, the government needs to do something about the misinformation that led to people voting this way?

    7. the_phet on

      > Hassan Naeen said Grays had a ‘good community’ and praised the government’s plans to toughen immigration policy.

Amazing someone with a foreign name happy with tough immigration policies. Btw the article describes Hassan Naeen as a newcomer.

    8. TheAdequateKhali on

That would probably be because all the things you voted to leave for weren’t true…

    9. To anyone who voted Brexit:

We left! Totally left! Exactly as you wanted and voted for! And we are all poorer because of it.

It did not change your life and sort all your problems? It was never meant to do so…just an ego boost for few politicians and a great speculation opportunity for their friends.

    10. These people are annoying. For us remainers we did leave – you wanted this, you got it. What more do you want?

    11. Jay_6125 on

The traitorous remainer parliament did everything they could over 4 years, to water down and knobble Brexit.

Wait till Monday when the UK public see’s Labour and Europhile fanatic Starmer betray these millions again.

Reform thankfully are going to tear up the deal when they romp home in 2029.

      Change is coming.

    12. TheChattyRat on

Who cares? Your votes made us poorer and we are sick of it.

    13. MultiMidden on

Like the Trump voting idiots in the US they believed the lies and they’ll happily back Farage or Boris again, the very people that lied to them.

“Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that ‘my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'”– Isaac Asimov

Throughout ‘the west’ we see this problem (whether it’s Trump or AfD or Orban etc) and unpopular as it might be I think democracy in the west needs a fundamental change. Everyone is still entitled to vote and everyone’s vote still counts, but there needs to be a boost for those who actually understand what is going on. Maybe every ballot paper needs a couple of multiple choice questions (that can be checked national lottery machine style) and every question that is correctly answered slightly boosts the vote.

      > “I just feel that it was a missed opportunity. Yes, people were sometimes fed bullshit. But they were asked if we wanted to come out and people around here literally voted in their droves for it. We’ve never really seen the investment we were promised.”

what is this troglodyte even trying to say? We were wrong, but lots of us voted for it so does it really matter that we were wrong?

These idiots got exactly what they wanted. Instead of a watered down brexit, we left the EU completely and we now pay the price floundering for trade deals with the US, at the risk of our own regulation standards. They won and won and won for 5 years, and they still believe the problem is we just didn’t Brexit hard enough, that it was a ‘missed opportunity’. Dumb fucks.

    15. itsmehonest on

Well they were stupid enough to believe all the lies without having the mental capacity to actually fact check things so sucks to be them I guess

There seems to be a lot of misinformation about Britain’s post Brexit growth. We’re doing OK.

The transition ended on 31st Dec 2020.

So growth from 2021 is genuine outside-of-the-EU growth.

      Here are the UK’s stats:

      https://tradingeconomics.com/united-kingdom/full-year-gdp-growth

      2021: 8.6%

      2022: 4.8%

      2023: 0.4%

      2024: 1.1%

      Here are Germany’s stats:

      https://tradingeconomics.com/germany/full-year-gdp-growth

      2021: 3.7%

      2022: 1.4%

      2023: -0.3%

      2024: -0.2%

Germany has been in recession for two consecutive years – the deadly choking hand of the EU is strangling them

    17. two_hats on

Yeah, it’s almost as if we left for nothing, and that it was all based on lies. But go ahead, vote for Farage again and see what happens.

    18. TheAwesomeMan123 on

“Feels like we never left” – were you expecting a Noah’s Island style exit, we fill the coal into the volcanoes and jet set across the Atlantic away from the continent of Europe?

    19. ConnectionOk3348 on

Almost as though… the reasons why you’re unhappy had (and still have) nothing to do with the EU… but someone scapegoated the EU and made you vote to leave in order to achieve their own personal goals… just a thought

    20. No unicorn?

      British fishermen royally screwed up?

No £350 million/week for the NHS?

No bendy bananas in the supermarket?

Actually increased immigration trying to replace highly productive europeans with many more brown/black people?

Blaming everybody else for your failed (obvioulsy stupid) plan?

      Colour me shocked.

    21. Spike_Milligoon on

Like a dog chasing it’s tail, if they stopped to think they’d end up ramming face first into smelling their own shit

    22. Revolutionary-Mode75 on

These idiots thought the Tories would invest in there areas lol.

    23. Careful-Swimmer-2658 on

It’s almost as if Farage and Johnson lied about the EU being the source of all their problems and how Britain would become a wonderland after we left. But that can’t be true, surely…

    24. eggyfigs on

They still believe that there was a net saving in leaving the EU.

If that’s the case and they can’t be bothered to read up on this basic subject then frankly they’ve got what they deserved.

I just wish we could split out all the reform/Brexit areas into another country, they’re holding us back.

Uk is a different mind set from rest of Europe… makes sense rest of Europe should come together but not UK… after fall of Roman Empire UK went without a state for many years.. proving we don’t really need one… it gave us a different mindset which is evident in our history… yet all the pro state pro government pro collective group think people crave a state to save them for… reasons

We traded the cow for some magic beans but the beanstalk hasn’t sprouted. It doesn’t matter though because we have one last cow left so we’ll just trade that one for some more beans which will hopefully be magic this time.
