There are no direct references. So, it is very telling that Turkey recognizes itself as genociders in the lyrics.

It did not happen, they deserved it and no one should talk, or sing, about it.

Why don’t they just have every contestant do a version of Happy Birthday or Baby Shark? Surely there is a way to keep humanity and culture out of this wildly popular money grab.

      “Dear Mr. and Mrs. Eurovision,

It is with great sadness that I must inform you that I, Turkey, am very angry right now. I am angry because Greece exists, and happens to exist in the contest as well. It is very hard to hide the skeletons in my closet when Greece keeps singing about them. Just to clarify, my closet is empty, there are no skeletons in it, and as such, I don’t want Greece to sing about the skeletons that are not there because they do not exist.

      Gobble gobble,

      Turkey”

I’m not a fan of eurovision, not watching it, but hearing a lot of politics about it all the time, it supposed to be about music, or maybe not.

“She said that “Asteromata” is not about any specific historical event but is instead inspired by all those forced to flee their homeland due to war and conflict.”

Turkey, why did you feel it was about you?

You are innocent, after all, right?

At the same time Turkey is claiming Israel is doing “modern-day genocide” in Palestine.

Interesting to me that this 30 minute old post doesn’t have the thousands of upvotes and hundreds of comments all expressing the exact same perspective that posts about Israel have: https://www.piratewires.com/p/the-terrorist-propaganda-to-reddit-pipeline

Genocide? Why would you assume such a thing? Unless….

This is a friendly reminder that even russia has more european territory than turkey. They do not belong here in the first place.

Turkey and Israël don’t have to take part to Eurovision.

    12. OffOption on

Aight. So Israel, now Turkey. Anyone else wanna cause this much of a fuss over Eurovision?

    13. edparadox on

So, explain to me how that works: you’re going to file a complaint about a genocide which never existed according to your government and people?

It’s the same with the current situation: Turks kept voted for Ergodan, but now it’s “why the EU does not help”.

      Same with Cyprus.

      It’s always somebody else’s fault, isn’t it?

This is the kind of issues which explain why Turkey won’t ever be in the EU, and you always depict you as the victim, while making threats, it’s really a pain.

Your damn EU membership application is almost 4 decades old, it predates even Erdogan for fuck’s sake. Get your shit together, and stop blaming others.

Get in line, we’re still waiting for Israel to get booted.
