      We can’t afford this

      Edit:

Sorry, maybe this needs some explanation. In Austria, the finance minister said the government has to save money, so they’ve raised prices on essentials like IDs and cut other things. The running joke is that we can’t have nice things because we can’t afford them. So now, every time something nice happens, we just go, “Oh my god we can’t afford this.”

Very surprised about the gap between the amount of 1st and 2nd votes of the public’s favourite

    3. Heroic_Capybara on

      Pathetic that Israel nearly won.

Also, no huge thread during the festival ?

    4. MindChild on

Where did all those votes for Israel come from? Was a bit surprised

    5. PrimaveraEterna on

If it wasn’ for the jury… who would have won? Israel? Estonia? Or I missed sth else?

    6. Jazzlike_Art6586 on

Israel got waay to close to win this with a medicore song.

They should be banned for next year.

    7. Phallic_Entity on

Another year, another Eurovision result I don’t understand.

    8. Tetizeraz on

I mean, I saw in the artists’ face. Everyone knows this felt rigged af. I truly hope EBU looks into Israel votes, and they have been [found to rig Eurovision votes last year](https://archive.is/ySaYp) (archive link). Some are already furious Israel is afforded a place in Eurovision in the first place.

    9. FruitOrchards on

      >However, for the second year running, the UK received no points in the public score.

I don’t understand how this is even possible

    10. Lakuriqidites on

Never have I supported Austria so much in my life. That 290 points from public about Israel is total bs. It deserves investigation

Austria’s victory with JJ’s ‘Wasted Love’ marks their third Eurovision win, and the UK avoided nul points with Remember Monday, which placed 19th. Austria’s win was confirmed by multiple sources, including CNN and the BBC, while the UK’s performance was notably better than previous years, where they often scored zero points.

Austria stopped Israel from winning, and that’s what matters most.

Israel shouldnt even be in this, if they had won it would have been sch a shut show.
Why do people vote for such a fascist state? Might as wel get russia back in.

    15. Weary-Candy8252 on

UK public gave Israel 12 points. We cannot be trusted to vote.

    16. average_Person1295 on

I couldn’t even remember Israel’s song. Definitely rigged that they nearly won. Luckily Austria stopped that from happening. Also, UK weren’t the best tonight but zero points from the public again? Really?

    17. NoteChoice7719 on

Switzerland in 2nd place after the jury then zero points from the public? This isn’t legit…..

    18. AdBlueBad on

Another Eurovision, another jury bait song win. I hate it when a song wins that’s specifically made for Eurovision jury machinery.

    19. Kreol1q1q on

Didn’t like Austria’s song, but that voting and ad buying shit Israel keeps pulling should get them disqualified.

As someone from Australia and just got out of bed, this got me excited for a second

    21. TheGrackler on

I often find these votes baffling. Did that many people love the Israeli song? Every Eurovision watcher type person I know in the UK despises them! Kinda feels like there is a groundswell of support or it’s been abused!

And it wasn’t Wannabe or anything but 0 points for UK? I thought it was a pretty decent tune well sang? (One of the few I can imagine could chart somewhat without Eurovision if it got lucky, most are way to niche and wail-y!)

    22. Zwetzak69 on

The bookmakers were a complete joke this year, and I think they’ve never been this off…

Sweden had a 49% win chance, more than double of the next candidate. They ended up 4th. During the first semi-final, Belgium had a 88% chance to get through. They didn’t. Portugal had a 86% chance to *not* get through. They still made it.

These people have no idea what they’re doing whatsoever.

The far right voters suddenly watching Eurovision to vote for Israel is almost ruining the fun. 2nd year in a row this is happening.

    25. persimmon40 on

There was a Eurovision already this year? Shit, I remember times when this contest was actually popular.

    26. Lizzy_Of_Galtar on

It feels a bit hypocritical to ban Russia from the competition but at the same time allowing Israel to compete.

But i’m very glad Austria took it home today, the lad deserved it.

    27. ASharpLife on

My god the shit show here in the comments regarding Israel is top notch, good thing I brought popcorn.

    28. Well the UK still got zero points from the audience.

But they took it with humor, and to be honest I don’t think it deserved those zero points.

    29. Key-Performance-9021 on

In Austria we say “Jetzt hat uns der den Schas gewonnen” and I think that’s beautiful!
