They cancel for you in general.
Than you get the information on when you will have the line switchover and if there is a technician appointment booked (normally on a hot switchover not needed) switch over (in the meantime you might have desperate calls from your ex… The magenta-giant)
But the switch over usually happens over night.
As you are switching from Telekom if you have a Speedport branded router you might need to buy/rent a different router from 1&1 as you can’t resetup them for non Telekom. If you have a FRITZ!Box with Telekom you are fine.
Check24 finances itself using provisions they get from the services they recommend. So my assumption would be that 1&1 just doesn’t do that, so they’re not listed. (That’s a big problem with Check24 in general, I’d never use it as a single research method.)
I can personally recommend 1&1, they are generally cheaper than Telekom, with the same stability (at least in my experience) and their support is good. Only thing – be careful what boxes you tick during sign-up, many of them are optional and you don’t need your ISP collecting ad data.
In terms of switching, usually the new provider can take care of cancelling the old contract. I believe 1&1 can do that for you.
I did this to save a little and went to Vodafone, BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE. I am in Hamburg- Altona and I got my Internet cut off more times in a couple of weeks than Telekom in years.
Then they refused to cancel my contract, even though I did before 14 days of signing. It took months of fighting but now I am back to Telekom.
