The problem with the security being linked to the device is when you break the device.
I’m sure they’ll have a system setup for when that happens. That doesn’t involve hanging on for a person on the end of the phone for more than an hour, like it is when you try to get hold of any government departments 😜

Passkey implementation is a good step, but they also need to forge ahead with GOV.UK One Login for more things. Government gateway is awful for the 2020s and the sooner we can be rid of it the better.

Passkey tech is a good idea but so many apps and websites won’t let you use Passkeys tech unless it’s delivered through a specific web browser and operating system.
I hope the NCSC lobbies for open-source and a platform independent implementation of Passkeys so we don’t have to own an up to date iPhone or Android just to be able to log into gov.uk services!
