Oh..great. Another country falling to fascism-fanboys.

Makes sense, they’re the ones responsible for losing that many votes.

Christ, looks like Romania might be the one piece of good news tonight.

We desperately need to get a grip on these Russian disinformation networks. If we do nothing then we’re basically giving away our democracy.

God damn shame people keep voting for Chega but at least PSD is still government. That being said, PS was really lacking these elections mostly focusing on demeaning the adversaries and well… little else. People clearly just want stability and change and it shows. Not a great turn out unfortunately, people need to get out and vote.

Happy that PS is falling apart but very disappointed in the massive support for racism and victimization. I hope Livre can absorb PS’s dimension.

    6. I guess it’s time for a new leader for PS and have some sort of agreement with AD.

The immigration is such a huge topic that is boosting Chega and while people say the far-right usually are the ones not voting, the fact the anti-immigration feeling is spreading so strong and fast, those will try to vote for a change.

Hi, latin american here, questios for everyone. Is it because of immigration paranoia, the goverment not focusing on normal people’s economy and well being, or a mix of both? Usually it’s those.

I guess AD and PS need to form a coalition whether they like it or not. It seems grand coalitions seem to be the norm nowadays thanks to far-right.

Chega at 22% is wild. But tbf I saw way more Chega posters than any other party probably combined here

Question to Portugal folks: How are seats calculated? Are they somewhat similar to D’Hondt or more to UK style?

Second question, how did AD rule so far? As a minority government with support of PS, IL etc?

And third question, how likely is it for these coalitions to happen:

      A. AD+CH
      B. AD+PS
      C. Minority gov of AD
      D. AD+IL+BE+CDU+L+PAN
      E. PS+IL+BE+CDU+L+PAN

My country is going to shit, giving so much power to the far-right. I hope portuguese people get the chance to learn a big lesson as soon as possible, given that we are way too dumb to learn with what’s happening with the US with Trump, or what happened in Brazil with Bolsonaro. Portuguese people need to suffer to learn that the vote is not a weapon to make the “system shake”. They forget that the portuguese far-right is already part of the system, and the only thing they are shaking is their moral decency as portuguese and europeans. Shame on us, I feel disgusted.

Edit: I voted for the party that won (it’s a right wing coalition) so it’s not even the case that my choice wasn’t the one that won. Is the far-right growth that is so bad and disgusting.

Today Romania managed to beat Portugal.

      Congratulations to Romania.

This is what happen when people vote just because of immigration
Chega’s economic plan is trump style tariffs and people don’t know and vote for that shit, he loves Matteo Salvini, Viktor Orbán AfD and Bolsonaro, most portuguese people hate Bolsonaro but they don’t know he likes him, I could go on

I work with a lot of Portuguese and, based on that small sample size, this does not surprise me at all.

    15. Putin propaganda, never forget that.
You listen to your visceral emotions, when it comes to politics? You’ve been played, most probably by your local nazis AND Putler.
