It is what it is, it’s an inconvenient meeting of various economic factors, firstly in real world terms a Euro is worth a lot less than he used to be. Any person who goes shopping weekly, was out for a meal or drink can attest to that no economics degree necessary.
Then you have supply and demand of houses. Between immigration and a much smaller yet totally not insignificant rate of natural population growth that demand for housing is at record high rates. Because of the money/time involved in building units for rental and all of the regulations/laws supply will never catch up to demand unless there is some massive event rate economic or otherwise the causes people to leave the island en masse.

Disgusting. No wonder young people are leaving. The time to build was 5 years ago, but we need to build state housing. Now.
