Pictures were shared by the Fikir Kulüpleri Federasyonu, a socialist student union of universities across the country. Kemalist slogans that were tagged primarily in Istanbul target the Islamic cults, pledging loyalty to the secular Turkish Revolution.
Cracked by the security services in the 90s, the rise of Erdogan regime allowed the extremist groups to regain ground – Kurdish Hezbollah is an instance. They were responsible for abducting “secular” people to torture for months, in an attempt to ignite chaos in society. “Feminist” Muslim activists were kidnapped and made to read statements blaming Kemalism. Backed by Iran, Hezbollah had an extensive network of secretive cells throughout Istanbul and intelligence services could only eradicate them after years of surveillance.
Although Hezbollah has little to no public support in Turkey, their political wing was offered seats at the Turkish Parliament – running from the ruling AKP lists, it’s another attempt to “intimidate” the unwanted people, the progressive and secular population. Turkey indeed faced unique challenges, that’s why Kemalism has been such a strong iron fist. Dictatorship was the only way to prevent an Iran scenario.

Very sad that in Poland candidates like Mentzen or Braun which want to turn Poland into authoritarian religious state like Turkey got 20% of votes.

There is still hope for Turkey and Iran. But only if they manage to free themselves from the shackles of Islam.
